this is good, and weird, started like a funny pic, then turned in into some kind of nostalgic thing as Waqi said.
maybe something happened in moshroom kingdom, and many years later mario went back to remember the ole times.

mario is so posing for a pic, i wonder who is taking it. hope isnt just mario all alone taking the pic to himself with autoshutter u.u

I can do that too! But keep in mind that it's just my opinion and that you should see the painting with your own eyes and ideas, not with mine.

Why Mario is alone... well, Mario IS lonely. When I was young the first 'videogame' I played was Super Mario Bros (I think that's how it was called), I used to be a very lonely kid and seeing Mario going on that big journey all by himself used to make me feel stronger, as if "if he can do it then I can as well".

The fog is quite easy. Every journey has a foggy place where you shouldn't go, but you have to. Maybe the fog in this case is where Mario doesn't want to go, it's what he doesn't want to think, maybe someone, in the past, hurt him, and those memories, maybe, lies in the fog, and if he doesn't do something the fog will come and get him.

I don't know if these couple of lines of text helped you understand a bit more what's behind the painting. I hope so!

so mario is standing right there, facing the fog which covers the whole scenario of his past adventure times.
